Shout out to The Proper Slice for serving up free pizza to police, military and first responders following the tragic Boston Marathon bombing just blocks away in April. At this two-unit, appropriately named pizzeria, a slice is one-fourth of a pizza. If patrons have trouble choosing one of the 18 pies on its menu, they can opt for the Proper 4-Way Sampler, four separate types of specialty pizzas making up a whole pie. Featured pizzas include the Sopressata & Hot Cherry Peppers with tomato sauce and mozzarella ($18) and Green Monster with pesto base, provolone, mozzarella, Romano, Che-Chi’s famous Fenway Park sweet Italian sausage and broccoli rabe ($20). The Proper Slice offers more than 30 meat, cheese and veggie toppings and meats are also roasted in-house.
